Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Meloxicam Mylan Generics:
- If you have developed a fixed drug eruption in the past (round or oval patches with redness or swelling of the skin that usually reappear in the same point(s), blisters, hives and itching) after taking meloxicam or other oxicams (e.g. piroxicam)
- If you have a history of inflammation of the esophagus (esophagitis); inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis) and/or gastric ulcers, because the doctor will need to check that you no longer have these disorders before starting treatment
- If you have a history of problems with the stomach or intestine (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
- If you are elderly (due to an increase in undesirable effects)
- If you have a very low blood volume (you may have had significant blood loss, surgery or reduced fluid intake)
- If you have other problems with the liver, kidneys or heart
- If you have high levels of potassium in your blood
- If you are trying to become pregnant or are undergoing fertility tests
Medicines like Meloxicam Mylan Generics can be associated with a small increased risk of heart attacks (“myocardial infarction”) or stroke. The risk is more likely with high doses and with prolonged treatment. Do not exceedthe recommended dose or duration of treatment. If you have heart problems (including angina or reduced circulation), a history of stroke or think you might be at risk of these conditions (e.g. if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol levels or are a smoker), you should talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your treatment.
Life-threatening skin reactions (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) have been reported with the use of Meloxicam Mylan Generics, these initially appear as red, round spots or circular patches that are often accompanied by blisters on the central part of the trunk.
Further signs to note include ulcers in the mouth, throat, nose, genitals and conjunctivitis (red and swollen eyes).
These life-threatening skin reactions are often accompanied by flu-like symptoms. The rash may progress with the development of widespread blisters or peeling of the skin.
The highest risk of developing severe skin reactions occurs within the first weeks of treatment.
If you have developed Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis with the use of Meloxicam Mylan Generics, you should not reuse meloxicam. If a rash or these symptoms occur, stop taking Meloxicam Mylan Generics and seek urgent medical advice and inform them that you are taking this medicine.
During treatment
If you have had problems with the intestine, especially if you are elderly, tell your doctor immediately if you have stomach or intestinal problems (especially bleeding) in the first few days after starting treatment with Meloxicam Mylan Generics. This is more likely to happen if you have had intestinal problems in the past or if you are elderly. Intestinal bleeding can be identified by the presence of tarry stools or if you vomit, they may contain red or dark particles that resemble coffee grounds (see section 4).
This medicine can affect the results of some blood or urine tests. Always tell your doctor or hospital staff that you are taking this medicine if you are going to have tests.
This medicine can mask the symptoms of some infections. For example, it can mask fever. If you are feeling unwell and think you may have an infection, talk to your doctor.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription. The following medicines can affect or be affected by Meloxicam Mylan Generics.
- Anticoagulants (medicines used to reduce blood clotting), such as warfarin, heparin, clopidogrel, dabigatran, apixaban and ticlopidine, because meloxicam may increase their effect or may increase the possibility of bleeding

- Diuretics (pills that promote the elimination of water)

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you suspect or are planning a pregnancy, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy
Do not take this medicine during the last 3 months of pregnancy because it could harm the fetus or cause problems during childbirth. It may cause problems with the fetus's kidneys and heart. It may affect your and your baby's tendency to bleed and delay or prolong labor more than expected.
You should not take Meloxicam Mylan Generics during the first 6 months of pregnancy unless absolutely necessary and under the advice of your doctor. If you need treatment during this period or during attempts to conceive, the minimum dose should be used for the shortest possible time. From the 20th week of pregnancy, Meloxicam Mylan Generics can cause kidney problems in the fetus, if taken for more than a few days, reducing the levels of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby (oligohydramnios) or causing the narrowing of a blood vessel (ductus arteriosus) in the baby's heart. If you need treatment for more than a few days, your doctor may recommend additional monitoring.
Breastfeeding
NSAIDs can pass into breast milk. You should not breastfeed while taking this medicine.
Fertility
This medicine may make it more difficult to become pregnant. Tell your doctor if you are planning a pregnancy or are undergoing fertility tests.
Driving and using machines
