1. What is Sintotrat and what is it used for
Sintotrat contains the active ingredient hydrocortisone acetate and belongs to the category of corticosteroids for dermatological use with anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic activity.
Sintotrat is indicated for the treatment of skin disorders such as eczema, insect bites, erythema or localized burns and reduces itching.
Consult your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of treatment.
2. What you need to know before using Sintotrat
Do not use Sintotrat
- if you are allergic to hydrocortisone acetate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- in case of viral, bacterial and fungal infections.
- in case of vulvar treatment if associated with vaginal discharge.
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using Sintotrat.
Sintotrat is indicated only for external use. The cream should not be used directly on the mucous membranes of the
eyes, but should be applied to the surrounding areas.
Avoid prolonged applications, especially on large areas.
"For athletes: the use of the drug without therapeutic need constitutes doping and may
still result in positive doping tests."
Children
In children under 2 years of age, the medicine should only be administered in cases of actual need and
under the direct supervision of a doctor.
Other medicines and Sintotrat
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any
other medicines.
No negative interactions or incompatibilities with commonly used drugs in therapy have ever been described.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
In pregnant women, the product should be administered only in cases of actual need and under the direct
supervision of a doctor.
If you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding with breast
milk, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Driving and operating machinery
It does not impair the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery.
Sintotrat contains propylene glycol,which can cause skin irritation, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and
propyl p-hydroxybenzoatewhich can cause allergic reactions (including delayed reactions).
3. How to use Sintotrat
Use this medicine following exactly as stated in this leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults and children over 2 years of age:
Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected skin area, massaging lightly, no more than 2-3 times a day.
Do not exceed the indicated doses without your doctor's advice.
Consult your doctor if the condition recurs or if you have noticed any recent change in its characteristics.
Use only for short periods of treatment.
If symptoms do not resolve within a few days, treatment should be discontinued and your doctor consulted.
Use in children
In children under 2 years of age, the medicine should only be administered in cases of actual necessity and under direct medical supervision.
If you use more Sintotrat than you should
In case of ingestion/accidental intake of an excessive dose of Sintotrat, immediately notify your doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
Cases of overdose are not known with the local use of acetate hydrocortisone at the concentration contained in Sintotrat; however, prolonged applications, particularly on large areas, should still be avoided.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The use, especially if prolonged, of products for local use can give rise to local irritation or
sensitization; in such cases it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and consult the doctor in order to establish
suitable therapy. Systemic side effects of topical corticosteroids are
extremely unlikely with the low dosages used and, if they occur, are generally transient.

If you experience any side effects, including those not listed in this leaflet, please inform your
doctor, pharmacist or nurse. You can also report side effects directly through the
national reporting system at http://www.agenziafarmaco.gov.it/it/responsabili.
By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of
this medicine.
5. How to store Sintotrat
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is reported on the packaging referring to the
product in intact packaging, correctly stored.
Do not dispose of any medicine in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of
medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Sintotrat contains
- The active ingredient is hydrocortisone acetate. 100 g of cream contains 0.5 g of hydrocortisone acetate.
- The other ingredients are: polyglycol esters of fatty acids, silicone oil 350 cP, propylene glycol, glycerol, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, purified water.
