1. What is Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen and what is it used for
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen contains two active ingredients, cinnarizina and dimenidrinate. The
two substances belong to different groups of medicines. Cinnarizina belongs to the so-called
calcium channel blockers, while dimenidrinate belongs to a group of medicines called
antihistamines.
Both substances work by reducing the symptoms of vertigo (a feeling of dizziness or
lightheadedness) and nausea (feeling unwell). When these two substances are used in
combination, they are more effective than using each of them individually.
Cinnarizina and DimenidrinatoTecniGen is used for the treatment of various types of vertigo in adults. The
vertigo can have a number of different causes. The use of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
can help to carry out daily activities made difficult by the presence of vertigo.
2. What you need to know before taking Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
Do not take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen:
- if you are under 18 years of age
- if you are allergic to cinnarizine, dimenidrinate or diphenhydramine or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)

- if you are allergic to any other antihistamines (such as astemizole, chlorpheniramine and terfenadine, used as anti-allergic medicines). You should not take this medicine unless your doctor has prescribed it for you.
- if you suffer from closed-angle glaucoma (a particular type of eye disease)
- if you have epilepsy
- if you have increased pressure inside the brain (e.g. due to a tumor)
- if you have problems with alcohol abuse
- if you have prostate problems that cause difficulty urinating
- - if you have liver or kidney failure.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Cinnarizina and DimenidrinatoTecniGen if you suffer
from:
- high or low blood pressure
- high eye pressure
- intestinal obstruction
- enlarged prostate
- hyperthyroidism
- serious heart problems
- Parkinson's disease.
The use of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen may worsen these conditions. Cinnarizina and
Dimenidrinato TecniGen may still be indicated for you but your doctor needs to be aware
of these factors.
Other medicines and Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take
any other medicines.
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen can interact with other medicines you are taking.
Taking Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen with the medicines listed below may
make you tired or sleepy :
- barbiturates (medicines often taken to induce a state of calm)
- narcotic analgesics such as morphine (strong painkillers such as morphine)
- tranquilizers (a type of medicine used to treat depression and anxiety)
- monoamine oxidase inhibitors (used to treat depression and anxiety).
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen may enhance the effects of the following medicines:
- tricyclic antidepressants (used to treat depression and anxiety)
- atropine (a medicine that relaxes muscles and is often used in eye examinations)
- ephedrine (can be used to treat cough or nasal congestion)
- procarbazine (a medicine used to treat some types of cancer)
- medicines used to lower blood pressure
Aminoglycosides (a type of antibiotic) can damage the inner ear. If you take
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen, you may not notice this damage.
You must not take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen with medicines used to correct
heartbeat problems (antiarrhythmics).

Cinnarizina and DimenidrinatoTecniGen may also alter the skin's response to allergy tests.
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen with food, drinks and alcohol
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen can cause indigestion, which can be reduced by taking
the tablets after meals. Do not drink alcohol while being treated with Cinnarizina and
DimenidrinatoTecniGen as it can cause tiredness or sleepiness.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
Do not take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen if you are pregnant, suspect or are
planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding.
Driving and operating machinery
Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen can cause drowsiness. If this happens, do not drive or
operate machinery.

3. How to take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
Always take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has instructed.
If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 1 tablet three times a day, to be taken after meals with some liquid.
The tablet must be swallowed whole without being chewed.
Generally you will take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen for a maximum of 4 weeks. Your doctor
will tell you if you need to take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen for longer
If you take more Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen than you should
If you accidentally take too many tablets or if a child has swallowed any, consult a
doctor urgently.

Taking an excessive amount of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen can make you feel
very tired, sleepy and unstable. Your pupils may dilate and you may be unable to urinate. You may
experience dry mouth, flushing of the face, increased heart rate, fever,
sweating and headache.
If you take a massive dose of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen you may develop convulsions,
hallucinations, high blood pressure, you may feel shaken, agitated and have difficulty breathing.
You may fall into a coma.
If you forget to take Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
If you forget to take a tablet of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen, you should skip that
dose. Take the next tablet of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen at the usual time.
Do not take a double dose to make up for forgetting the tablet.

If you stop taking Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
Do not stop taking Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen before your doctor tells you to.
If you stop treatment too early, it is likely that the symptoms of vertigo
(dizziness and lightheadedness) will return.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects(may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
- drowsiness,
- dry mouth,
- headache
- stomach discomfort. These are usually mild and disappear within a few days while continuing treatment with Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen.
Uncommon side effects(may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- sweating,
- skin redness,
- indigestion,
- nausea (feeling unwell),
- diarrhoea,
- nervousness,
- cramps,
- forgetfulness,
- tinnitus (ringing in the ears),
- paresthesia (tingling of hands and/or feet),
- tremor.
Rare side effects(may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people):
- impaired vision,
- allergic reactions (e.g. skin reactions),
- sensitivity to light
- difficulty in urination.
Very rare side effects(may affect less than 1 in 10,000 people):
- reduction in the number of white blood cells and platelets
- a significant reduction in the number of red blood cells, which can cause weakness, bruising or an increased risk of developing infections.
If you suffer from infections with fever and a severe worsening of your general health, please contact
your doctor and inform them of the medicines you are taking.

Other possible reactions (frequency cannot be defined based on available data) that
may occur with this type of medicine include:
- weight gain,
- constipation, feeling of tightness in the chest,
- jaundice (yellowing of the skin or the white of the eyes due to blood or liver problems),
- worsening of closed-angle glaucoma (an eye disease characterized by increased pressure inside the eye),
- uncontrolled movements,
- unusual excitement and restlessness (especially in children)
- severe skin reactions.

5. How to store Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinato TecniGen
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the blister and the package after
EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicine does not require any particular storage conditions.
Do not dispose of any medicine in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to
dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.

What Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinate TecniGen contains
The active ingredients are: cinnarizine 20 mg and dimenidrinate 40 mg.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized starch, hypromellose,
sodium croscarmellose, talc and magnesium stearate.
Description of the appearance of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinate TecniGen and contents of the pack
The tablets of Cinnarizina and Dimenidrinate TecniGen are white in colour, round in shape and
convex. They are available in packs of 20, 50 tablets.
