Domperidone may be associated with an increased risk of heart rhythm disorders and cardiac arrest. The risk may be more likely in subjects over 60 years of age or who are taking doses greater than 30 mg per day. The risk also increases when domperidone is administered together with other drugs. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medications for the treatment of infections (fungal or bacterial infections) and/or if you have heart problems or AIDS/HIV (see “Other medicines and RIGES”).
Domperidone should be used at the minimum effective dose.
While taking RIGES, contact your doctor if you notice heart rhythm disturbances such as palpitations, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness. In this case, treatment with RIGES should be discontinued.
Children and adolescents
RIGES should not be given to children and adolescents.

RIGES and apomorphine
Before using RIGES and apomorphine, your doctor will make sure that your body can tolerate taking both medicines at the same time.
Ask for personalized advice from your doctor or a specialist. Read the leaflet of apomorphine.
It is important that you ask your doctor or pharmacist if RIGES is safe for you while taking other medicines, including over-the-counter medicines.
RIGES with food and drink
Take RIGES before meals. If taken after meals, the absorption of the medicine is slightly slowed down.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. There is not enough data to establish whether RIGES is harmful during pregnancy.
Small amounts of domperidone have been detected in breast milk. RIGES may cause adverse effects on the heart of the breastfed newborn. RIGES should be used during breastfeeding only if strictly necessary. Ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
Driving and using machines
Some patients have reported feeling dizzy or drowsy after taking RIGES.
Do not drive or use machines while taking RIGES until you know how RIGES affects you.

If your doctor has diagnosed you with intolerance to certain sugars, contact him before taking this medicine.
RIGES contains sodium
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per dose, that is to say essentially ‘sodium-free’.
3. How to take RIGES
Take this medicine following exactly the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts
consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Strictly adhere to these instructions, unless your doctor has provided you with different instructions.
It is recommended to take RIGES before meals. If taken after meals, the absorption of the medicine
is rather delayed.
Duration of treatment:
Symptoms usually resolve within 3-4 days of taking this medicine. Do not take RIGES for
more than 7 days without consulting your doctor.
The recommended dose is one tablet taken up to three times a day, preferably before meals.
Take the tablets with a little water or other liquid. Do not chew them. Do not take more than three tablets a
day.
If you take more RIGES than you should
Following the intake of an excessive dose of this medicine, the following symptoms may occur:

- alterations of consciousness;
- convulsions;
- disorientation;
- drowsiness;
- difficulty of movements (extrapyramidal manifestations).
If you have taken an excessive amount of RIGES, contact your doctor, pharmacist or the nearest poison
control center immediately. In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment is appropriate. Monitoring with an
electrocardiogram may be performed, given the possibility of a cardiac problem
called “QT interval prolongation”.
If you forget to take RIGES
Take the medicine as soon as you remember. If it is almost time to take the next dose, wait until the time of
taking that dose and then continue normally. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the
