1. What OXA is and what it is used for
OXA eye drops are used for the treatment of eye infections (conjunctivitis) when caused by
bacteria. The active ingredient is moxifloxacin, an ophthalmic anti-infective.
2. What you need to know before you use OXA
Do not use OXA
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to moxifloxacin, to other quinolones or to any of the excipients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
- If you have an allergic reaction to OXA. Allergic reactions are not commonly manifested and serious reactions are rarely manifested. In case of allergic reactions (hypersensitivity) or any type of undesirable effects consult section 4.
- If you wear contact lenses- stop wearing them in case of signs or symptoms of eye infection. Instead wear glasses. Do not start wearing contact lenses again until the signs and symptoms of the infection have disappeared and until you stop using the medicine.
- Swelling and rupture of tendons have occurred in people treated with fluoroquinolones orally or intravenously, particularly in elderly patients and in patients treated at the same time with corticosteroids. Stop using OXA if your tendons hurt or swell (tendinitis).
As with any antibiotic, the use of OXA for a prolonged period may lead to other
infections.
Other medicines and OXA
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other
medicines, including those available without a prescription.

If you are pregnant, suspect or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding with
breast milk, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using OXA eye drops.
Driving and operating machinery
You may have blurred vision for a short period immediately after using OXA. Do not
drive and do not use machinery until this sensation has ceased.
3. How to use OXA
Use OXA following exactly the doctor's instructions. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or
pharmacist.
Adults, including the elderly, and children: 1 dropin the affected eye/s, 3 times a day(in the
morning, in the afternoon and in the evening).
OXA can be used in children, in patients over 65 years of age and in patients with kidney and liver
problems. There is only very limited information on the use of the medicine in newborns and its
use in newborns is not recommended.
Use the medicine in both eyes only as prescribed by your doctor. OXA can be used
onlyas an eye drop.
The infection normally improves within 5 days. If you do not see any improvement, consult your

- Take the OXA bottle and stand in front of a mirror.
- Wash your hands.
- Unscrew the cap.
- After removing the cap, if the safety ring is loose, remove it before using the product.
- Take the bottle, turn it upside down, and hold it between your thumb and other fingers.
- Tilt your head back. Lower the lower eyelid with a clean finger, so as to form a “pocket” between the eyelid and the eye. The drop should be inserted in that point (figure 1).
- Hold the tip of the bottle close to the eye. It may be helpful to look in the mirror.
- Do not touch the eye or eyelid, the surrounding areas or other surfaces with the tip of thedropper. It could infect the eye drops.
- Gently press the bottom of the bottle to release one drop of OXA at a time (figure 2).
- After using OXA, press with a finger on the corner of the eye, near the nose for 2-3 minutes (figure
- 3). This prevents the medicine from spreading throughout the body, which is important in young children.
- If you need to put the eye drops in both eyes, wash your hands before repeating the steps forthe other eye. This will help prevent the infection from spreading from one eye to the other.
- Close the bottle cap tightly immediately after use.
If a drop does not enter the eye, try again.
If you use more OXA than you should, immediately wash the eye with lukewarm water. Do not use more eye drops until
the time of the next dose.
If you accidentally ingestOXA, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
If you forget to use OXA, continue treatment with the next dose as scheduled.
Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you are using another eye drop at the same time, allow at least 5 minutes to pass between
instilling OXA and the other eye drop.
If you stop treatment with OXA
If you have any questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
