1. What is LASTAFRY and what it is used for
LASTAFRY belongs to a group of medicines known as prostaglandin analogues. It works
by increasing the natural flow of fluid from inside the eye into the bloodstream.
LASTAFRY is used to treat diseases known as open-angle glaucomaand ocular
hypertensionin adults. Both of these conditions are linked to an increase in pressure
inside the eye and over time can damage vision.
LASTAFRY is also used to treat increased intraocular pressure and glaucoma in children
and infants of all ages.
LASTAFRY can be used in adult men and women (including the elderly) and in children from
birth to 18 years. LASTAFRY has not been studied in prematurely born children (less than 36 weeks
of gestation).
LASTAFRY eye drops is a sterile solution that does not contain preservatives.
2. What you need to know before using LASTAFRY
Do not useLASTAFRY
- if you are allergic to latanoprost or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
Warnings and precautions
Tell your doctor, the doctor treating your child or your pharmacist before using LASTAFRY or
before giving it to your child if you think that any of the following conditions apply to you or your child:
- if you or your child are going to have or have just had eye surgery (including cataract surgery)
- If you or your child suffers from eye problems (such as eye pain, irritation or inflammation, blurred vision)
- If you or your child suffers from dry eyes
- If you or your child suffers from severe asthma or asthma that is not well controlled
- If you or your child wear contact lenses. You can still use LASTAFRY but must follow the instructions for contact lens wearers in section 3
- If you have previously suffered from or are currently suffering from a viral eye infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV)
Other medicines andLASTAFRY
LASTAFRY can interact with other medicines. Tell your doctor, the doctor treating your child or
your pharmacist if you or your child are taking, have recently taken or might take any other
medicines, including over-the-counter medicines (or eye drops).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy
Do not use LASTAFRY during pregnancy. If you are pregnant, suspect you are
pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice before
taking this medicine.
Breastfeeding
Do not use LASTAFRY while breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines
The use of LASTAFRY may cause temporary blurred vision. If this happens, avoid
driving vehicles or using machines until your vision is clear again.
LASTAFRY contains hydroxystearate 40 macrogolglycerol.
This medicine contains hydroxystearate 40 macrogolglycerol which can cause skin reactions.
LASTAFRY contains phosphate buffer
Each mL of solution of this medicine contains 6.35 mg of phosphates.
If you suffer from severe damage to the transparent layer of the front of your eye (the cornea), phosphates
can, in very rare cases, cause the formation of opaque spots on the cornea due to
calcium accumulation during treatment.
3. How to use LASTAFRY
Use this medicine following the doctor's or the doctor caring for your child's instructions exactly at all times. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor, the doctor caring for your child, or your pharmacist.
The recommended dose, for adults (including the elderly) and children, is one drop once a day into the eye/eyes to be treated. The best time to do this is in the evening.
Do not use LASTAFRY more than once a day, as frequent administrations may decrease the effect of the treatment.
Use LASTAFRY as recommended by the doctor or the doctor caring for your child until they tell you to stop.
Contact lens wearers
If you or your child wear contact lenses, these must be removed before using LASTAFRY.
After using LASTAFRY you must wait 15 minutes before wearing contact lenses again.

If you use LASTAFRY with other eye drops
Wait at least 5 minutes between using LASTAFRY and using other eye drops.
If you use more LASTAFRY than you should
If you have applied too many drops into the eye, you may experience mild irritation, tearing, and
redness of the eyes. These effects are transient, but if they occur, it is advisable to contact your
doctor or the doctor caring for your child for advice.
In case of accidental ingestion of LASTAFRY by you or your child, immediately notify
your doctor.
If you forget to use LASTAFRY
Continue to take the usual dose at the usual time. Do not use a double dose to make up for the
missed dose. If you have any doubts about using this medicine, consult your doctor or
pharmacist.
If you stop the treatment with LASTAFRY
You must talk to your doctor or the doctor caring for your child if you want to stop the treatment with
LASTAFRY.

4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following are known side effects derived from the use of eye drops containing the active substance
latanoprost:
Very common(affects more than 1 in 10 people):
- Gradual and permanent alteration of the eye color due to the increase in the amount of brown pigment of the colored part of the eye called the iris. This change will be more likely if your eyes have a mixed color (blue-brown, gray-brown, yellow-brown or green-brown) rather than a uniform color (blue, gray, green or brown). Any change in eye color may occur after years, even if it generally manifests within the first 8 months of treatment. The color change may be permanent and may be more evident if you use LASTAFRY in only one eye. It seems there are no problems associated
with the alteration of eye color. After stopping treatment with LASTAFRY, no
further alteration of eye color has been observed.
- Redness of the eyes.
- Eye irritation (burning sensation, gritty feeling, itching, stinging sensation or foreign body sensation in the eyes). If you experience eye irritation that is so severe as to cause excessive tearing of your eyes or make you consider stopping this medicine, promptly inform (within one week) your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. It may be necessary to review the treatment to ensure that you continue to receive the appropriate treatment for your condition.
- Gradual alteration of the eyelashes of the treated eye and alteration of the fluff around the treated eye, observed mostly in people of Japanese origin. These alterations include darkening, lengthening, thickening and densification of the eyelashes.
Common(may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
- Irritation or abrasion of the surface of the eye, inflammation of the eyelid margin (blepharitis) and eye pain, sensitivity to light (photophobia), conjunctivitis.
Uncommon(may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- Swelling of the eyelids, and dry eyes, inflammation or irritation of the surface of the eye (keratitis), blurred vision, inflammation of the colored part of the eye (uveitis), swelling of the retina (macular edema).
- Skin rash.
- Chest pain (angina), awareness of heartbeat (palpitations).
- Asthma, shortness of breath (dyspnea).
- Chest pain.
- Headache, dizziness.
- Muscle pain, joint pain.
Rare(may affect up to 1 in 1000 people):
- Inflammation of the iris (iritis), symptoms related to swelling or abrasion/damage to the ocular surface, swelling of the area around the eyes (periorbital edema), alteration of the orientation of the eyelashes or abnormal eyelash growth, injury to the surface of the eye, fluid-filled area in the colored part of the eye (iris cyst).
- Skin reactions on the eyelids, darkening of the skin of the eyelids.
- Worsening of asthma.
- Severe itching.
- Development of a viral eye infection caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Very rare(may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people):
- worsening of angina in patients already suffering from heart problems, hollowing of the eye (eye socket becomes deeper).
The side effects observed more frequently in children compared to adults are nasal itching,
runny nose and fever.
In very rare cases, some patients with severe damage to the transparent layer of the front of the eye
(the cornea) have developed opaque areas on the cornea due to calcium accumulation during
treatment.
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any side effects not listed in this
leaflet. You can also report side effects directly through the website

medicine.
5. How to store LASTAFRY
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package and the bottle after
exp. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicine does not require any particular storage conditions.
You must dispose of the bottle 4 weeks after first opening,to prevent infections. Write the date
of opening the bottle in the appropriate space on the bottle label and on the package.
Do not dispose of any medicine in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how
to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What containsLASTAFRY:
- The active ingredient is latanoprost. Each mL of solution contains 50 micrograms of latanoprost.
- The other ingredients are: macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate 40, sodium chloride, disodium edetate, disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, anhydrous disodium phosphate, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), water for injections
Description of the appearance ofLASTAFRY and contents of the pack
LASTAFRY is presented as 2.5 mL of aqueous, clear colorless solution, corresponding to
approximately 80 drops of solution, free from visible particles, in a cardboard box containing a
5mL white multi-dose container (HDPE) with a pump (PP, HDPE, LDPE), a green pressure cylinder and cap (HDPE).

Cardboard boxes containing 1 or 3 bottles with 2.5 mL of solution
