important information for you.
- Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.
- If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- This medicine has been prescribed for you only. Do not pass it on to others, even if they have the same symptoms as you, as it may be harmful.
- If you get any side effects, even those not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist. See section 4.

1. What is Tyomol and what is it used for
This medicine is a muscle relaxant. It is used in adults and adolescents starting from
16 years of age as adjunctive treatment for painful muscle contractures. It is used for acute
episodes related to the spine.
2. What you need to know before you take Tyomol
Do not take Tyomol:
- if you are allergic to paracetamol, tiocolchicoside or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- if you are pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant or might become pregnant;
- if you are a woman of childbearing potential who is not using contraceptive methods;
- if you are breastfeeding;
- if you suffer from severe liver disease;
- if you suffer from flaccid paralysis or muscle hypotonia;

Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Tyomol.
Concomitant treatment with drugs that may have a hepatotoxic action should be avoided.
Do not associate with the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Strictly adhere to the doses and duration of treatment as reported in section 3. You should not take
this medicine at higher doses or for more than 7 days. This is because one of the substances that forms
in the body when you take tiocolchicoside at high doses could cause damage to some cells
(abnormal number of chromosomes). This has been demonstrated in animal studies and in laboratory studies.
In humans, this type of cellular damage is a possible risk factor for cancer, for the
development of fetal injuries and for male fertility problems. Talk to your doctor if you have further questions.
The doctor will inform you about all measures regarding effective contraception and the potential risk of
pregnancy.
If you observe symptoms that may indicate liver damage during treatment with Tyomol (for
example, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, fatigue, dark urine, jaundice,
pruritus), you should stop taking Tyomol and consult your doctor immediately.
Immediately inform your doctor if you experience any of the following symptoms: Convulsions.
Children and adolescents
Do not give this medicine to children and adolescents under 16 years of age due to safety concerns.
Other medicines and Tyomol
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take
any other medicines.
Tyomol may increase the toxicity of chloramphenicol. Tyomol can enhance the effect of
anticoagulants.
The simultaneous administration of Tyomol and aspirin, salicylates or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
is not recommended. The simultaneous use of diflunisal and Tyomol increases the risk of hepatotoxicity. The
expected analgesic response to this drug is altered by the administration of barbiturates.
The effect of Tyomol is inhibited by the administration of colestipol, colestyramine and estrogens.
Isoniazid increases the hepatotoxic capacity of Tyomol.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
- flucloxacillin (antibiotic), due to a serious risk of alterations in blood and fluids (metabolic acidosis with high anion gap) which must be treated urgently and which can occur particularly in case of severe renal impairment, sepsis (when bacteria and their toxins circulate in the blood leading to organ damage), malnutrition, chronic alcoholism and if the maximum daily doses of paracetamol are used.
Tyomol may cause an increase in the following laboratory parameters: transaminases, alkaline phosphatase,
ammonia, lactate dehydrogenase and urea. Tyomol may cause interference in the determination of
glucose and uric acid in the blood, and of metadrenaline and uric acid in the urine.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
Do not take this medicine if:
- you are pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant or might become pregnant;
- you are a woman of childbearing potential who is not using contraceptive methods. This is because this medicine can cause harm to the fetus.
Do not take this medicine if you are breastfeeding.
This is because the medicine passes into breast milk.
The medicine may cause male fertility problems due to potential damage to sperm
(abnormal number of chromosomes). This is based on laboratory studies (see section 2
“Warnings and precautions”).
Driving and using machines
No data are available regarding the effect of Tyomol on the ability to drive or operate machines.
Clinical studies have established that tiocolchicoside has no effects on psychomotor function. However,
as cases of drowsiness have been reported, this should be taken into account when driving vehicles or
operating machinery.
Tyomol contains sodium.
This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per dose, therefore it is essentially
“sodium-free”.
3. How to take Tyomol
Take this medicine following exactly the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is 1 or 2 tablets, 3 or 4 times a day. The duration of treatment is limited to 7 consecutive days.
The tablets must be swallowed whole with water. Do not exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Do not exceed the recommended doses and the duration of treatment.
This medicine should not be used for long-term treatments (see paragraph 2 "Warnings and precautions").
Use in children and adolescents
Do not administer this medicine to children and adolescents under 16 years of age due to safety concerns.
If you take more Tyomol than you should
If you accidentally take more Tyomol than you should, contact your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
In case of overdose, you may experience nausea, vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhea.
If an excessive dose has been taken (more than 6 grams of paracetamol in a single dose, which corresponds to 12 tablets in adults or more than 100 mg/kg in children), you should go to the nearest hospital even in the absence of symptoms, as these normally begin to appear within the third day of taking the excessive dose.
Treatment includes:
Gastric lavage or induction of vomiting.
Oral administration of activated charcoal;
Hemodialysis;
Administration of acetylcysteine at appropriate doses.
If you forget to take Tyomol
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
If you stop taking Tyomol
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
