Treatment and prevention of calcium deficiency.
Pathological conditions requiring increased calcium intake
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the product or substances closely related from a
chemical point of view. Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Calcium lithiasis (kidney stones). Severe renal insufficiency.
In case of prolonged immobilization, accompanied by hypercalcemia and/or hypercalciuria, treatment with
calcium salts should be started only upon resumption of mobilization.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Calcium salts administered at high doses and/or for prolonged periods can cause hypercalcemia
especially in subjects with renal insufficiency. They should therefore be used with caution and only when
necessary in patients with kidney and cardiovascular diseases. In case of prolonged treatments, it is necessary
to periodically check calcemia and calciuria and, based on these, eventually reduce the dose.
DRUG AND OTHER INTERACTIONS
Unless otherwise indicated by the doctor, do not associate products containing vitamin D; in case of association
regularly check the dosage of calcium in the blood and urine.
In case of concomitant treatment with digitalis, the administration of calcium (especially if associated with
vitamin D) requires regular monitoring and the same doctor will impose a precise schedule
of checks.
In case of concomitant treatment with oral tetracyclines, the administration of the two drugs must
be spaced by at least 3 hours.
In case of treatment with sodium fluoride-based products, it is advisable to take calcium away
from sodium fluoride.
To avoid any interactions with other drugs, systematically inform your doctor
of any other concomitant therapy.
WARNINGS
CALCIO SAVIO may be indicated in case of increased physiological need, such as in the last months of
pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Like all medicines, the product should be kept out of the reach of children.
The medicine is not contraindicated for subjects suffering from celiac disease.
DOSAGE, ADMINISTRATION METHOD AND DURATION OF TREATMENT
Dissolve the sachet in a glass of water and drink the solution immediately after.
Adults:osteoporosis and states of calcium deficiency in general: 1 g/day, i.e. 1 sachet per day of CALCIO
SAVIO. Strictly adhere to the doctor's prescription.
OVERDOSE
Under normal metabolism conditions, no intoxication has ever been observed following
the assumption of high doses and/or for long periods of calcium salts. However, in subjects with renal insufficiency or affected by cardiovascular diseases, the appearance of alkalosis and hypercalcemia is possible, which
manifest with nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, thirst, polyuria, polydipsia, characteristic
modifications of the ECG tracing, arterial hypertension, vasomotor disturbances.
Treatment:interruption of calcium administration, rehydration and, depending on the severity
of the intoxication, administration of diuretics and corticosteroids.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS
Rarely, gastrointestinal disturbances (represented by constipation, flatulence,
nausea) and hypophosphatemia may occur.
In case of hypercalcemia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain, thirst, polyuria,
polydipsia, characteristic modifications of the ECG tracing, arterial hypertension, vasomotor disturbances may occur. In
children, growth arrest may occur (see overdose).
These undesirable effects are generally transient. However, when they occur, it is advisable
to consult a doctor.

STORAGE CONDITIONS AND EXPIRY DATE
CALCIO SAVIO must be stored protected from humidity.
Expiry date: see the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
This expiry date refers to the product in intact packaging, correctly stored.
Caution: do not use the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
