products that already contain vitamin D such as fortified foods, vitamin D-enriched milk
(see section “ Warnings and precautions”).
Consumption of large amounts of alcohol for a long time (chronic alcoholism) decreases
vitamin D stores in the liver.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, or if you
are breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking
this medicine.
Pregnancy
When necessary, you can take vitamin D during pregnancy,

necessary, due to the risk of harmful effects to the fetus (see section 3. “If you take more
XAREXEN than you should”).

When necessary, you can take vitamin D during breastfeeding. This does not
replace the administration of vitamin D in the newborn. Vitamin D and its metabolites
are excreted in breast milk. This aspect must be taken into consideration when
administering further vitamin D to the child.
