1. What is OMKASA COMOD and what is it used for
OMKASA COMOD, based on salicylic acid, is a medicine with anti-inflammatory and
decongestant action.
OMKASA COMOD eye drops are used in adults to treat inflammation of the eyelid (blepharitis),
non-specific conjunctivitis and eye irritation caused by dust, smog or sun.
See your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 24-36 hours.
2. What you need to know before using OMKASA COMOD
Do not use OMKASA COMOD:
- If you are allergic to salicylic acid, salicylates in general or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
- If you have suffered from allergic reactions (asthma, urticaria, acute rhinitis) in case of previous use of medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (medicines used to treat inflammation).
- In your child if they are under 12 years of age.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, see section “Pregnancy and Breastfeeding”.
Warnings and precautions
Consult your doctor or pharmacist before using OMKASA COMOD.
Avoid wearing contact lenses during treatment with OMKASA COMOD.
In any case, you must remove the lenses before applying the drops and wait 15 minutes before
replacing them.
In the presence or in case of risk of infection, your doctor may also administer
an antibiotic medicine at the same time.
Children and adolescents
Salicylic acid is contraindicated in the pediatric population under 12 years of age (see
section “Do not use OMKASA COMOD”).
Other medicines and OMKASA COMOD
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any
other eye drops.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, suspect or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are breastfeeding with
breast milk, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
The doctor will carefully evaluate the benefits of the medicine for the mother compared to any
risks to the fetus.
Driving and operating machinery
Like all eye drops, OMKASA COMOD can cause blurred vision for a short
period immediately after application, slightly altering the ability to drive vehicles or
operate machinery. Do not drive vehicles and do not use machinery until your vision is clear.
3. How to use OMKASA COMOD
Use this medicine following exactly as described in this leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is one drop 1-4 times a day, to be instilled into the conjunctival sac,
as prescribed by your doctor.
Use in children and adolescents
Salicylic acid is contraindicated in the pediatric population under 12 years of age.
How to apply OMKASA COMOD
Wash your hands.
Take a clean cloth and gently clean around the eye (Figure 1).

Remove the protective cap before use. (Figure 2).

The first time you use the eye drops, turn the bottle with the dropper upside down and press
on the bottom of the bottle to release the first drop.
Keep the bottle upside down, placing your thumb on the top of the bottle and your other
fingers on the bottom (Figure 3).

Support with your free hand, the hand holding the bottle (Figure 4).

Tilt your head slightly backwards, gently pull down your lower eyelid, and
apply firm and rapid pressure on the bottom of the bottle, which will allow the release of a drop.
(Figure 5).
Thanks to the special valve system of the COMOD system, the size and speed of release
of a drop are always the same, regardless of the pressure applied.
When applying the eye drops, you must be careful to avoid any contact between the tip
of the bottle and the eye or skin.

After applying the eye drops, release your lower eyelid and press with a finger on the inner corner
of your eye. Open and close your eye several times in order to distribute the eye drops evenly. Remove
any excess eye drops (Figure 6).

After use, immediately close the bottle with the cap, making sure there are no residues
of liquid on the dropper. (Figure 7).

Repeat the procedure described for the other eye.
If you use more OMKASA COMOD than you should
In case of ingestion/accidental intake of OMKASA COMOD eye drops, immediately
inform your doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
If you forget to use OMKASA COMOD
Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you stop using OMKASA COMOD
If you have any doubts about using this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The following side effects may occur with OMKASA COMOD:
Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people): local allergic reactions.
Very rare (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people): itching, redness of the eyes (ocular hyperemia) and blurred vision immediately after instillation.

5. How to store OMKASA COMOD
Store at a temperature below 25°C.
The shelf life after first opening the bottle is 28 days. Residual product must be
discarded.
Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack after “EXP”.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of any medicine in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to
dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What OMKASA COMOD contains
- The active ingredient is salicylic acid. 1 ml of solution contains 1 mg of salicylic acid.
- The other components are: Sorbitol (E420), Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster), water for injections.
Description of the appearance of OMKASA COMOD and contents of the pack
OMKASA COMOD eye drops are presented as a clear and transparent solution in a multidose LDPE bottle
with an airless “pump” system and a protective cap.
The pack contains a multidose bottle with 10 ml of eye drops.
