MEDICINE NAME
NIROLEX COUGH AND CATARRH 4 mg/5 ml syrup
Bromexine Hydrochloride
WHAT IT IS
NIROLEX COUGH AND CATARRH syrup is a mucolytic: it fluidifies, that is, the deposits of viscous mucus in the
respiratory tract and thus facilitates its elimination.
WHY IT IS USED
NIROLEX COUGH AND CATARRH syrup is used for the treatment of secretion disorders (for

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

period of treatment without appreciable results, consult your doctor.
WHICH MEDICINES OR FOODS CAN MODIFY THE EFFECT OF THE MEDICINE

If you are taking other medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT
Mucolytics can induce bronchial obstruction in children under 2 years of age. In fact, the
ability to drain bronchial mucus is limited in this age group, due to the
physiological characteristics of the respiratory tract.
They should therefore not be used in children under 2 years of age (see paragraph
“When it must not be used”).
Very rarely, simultaneously with the administration of mucolytic substances, such as
bromexine, severe skin lesions such as Stevens Johnson syndrome and Lyell's syndrome have been observed.
Most of these could be explained by the severity of underlying diseases or other
drugs taken at the same time.
If new skin or mucous membrane lesions occur, discontinue bromexine treatment as a precaution and consult your doctor.
When it can only be used after consulting a doctor
There are no absolute contraindications, but in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer, its use is recommended
