1. What is Loratadina Teva and what is it used for
The full name of this medicine is Loratadina Teva 10 mg tablets.
What are Loratadina Teva tablets
Loratadina Teva tablets contain the active ingredient loratadine, and belong to a class
of medicines called “antihistamines”.
What are Loratadina Teva tablets used for
Loratadina Teva helps to reduce allergic symptoms, counteracting the effects of a substance
called “histamine”, which is produced by the human body when you are allergic to something.
When should Loratadina Teva be taken
Loratadina Teva relieves the symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (e.g. hay fever) such as: sneezing, runny nose and itchy nose, burning or itchy eyes, in adults
and children over 2 years of age and weighing more than 30 kg.
Loratadina Teva is also used to relieve the symptoms associated with urticaria (itching and
redness).
The effect of Loratadina Teva lasts all day and helps to resume normal daily activities
and sleep.
See your doctor if you do not notice any improvement or if you notice worsening symptoms.
2. What you need to know before taking Loratadina Teva
Do not take Loratadina Teva:
- If you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Loratadina Teva:
- If you suffer from liver problems If you are planning to have allergy skin tests. You should not take Loratadina Teva for two days before the tests. This is because it may affect the test results.
If any of the problems mentioned above occur (or if you are not sure), consult
your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Loratadina Teva.
Children
Do not give Loratadina Teva to children under 2 years of age or to children between 2 years and 12
years of age who weigh less than 30 kg.
There are other formulations more suitable for children from 2 to 12 years with a weight less than 30
kg.
Other medicines and Loratadina Teva
Tell your doctor or pharmacist or nurse if you are taking, have recently taken or
may take any other medicines. This includes medicines available without
prescription.
Loratadina Teva and alcohol
Loratadina Teva has not been shown to enhance the effects of alcoholic beverages.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant, suspect you may be pregnant or are planning a pregnancy, or if you
are breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking
this medicine.
- Do not take Loratadina Teva if you are pregnant.
- Do not take Loratadina Teva if you are breastfeeding. Loratadine is excreted in breast milk.
Driving and operating machinery
At the recommended dose, Loratadina Teva is not expected to cause drowsiness or reduced
level of attention. However, drowsiness has been very rarely reported in some
people, which may affect the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
Loratadina Teva contains lactose
Loratadina Teva contains lactose; therefore if your doctor has diagnosed you with an intolerance
to certain sugars, contact him/her before taking this medicine.
3. How to take Loratadina Teva
Take this medicine following exactly the instructions of your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
Use in children
For children, Loratadina syrup is preferred. It is important to know your child's weight to ensure you give the correct dose of medication. For example, a 9-year-old child weighs about 30kg. If in doubt, weigh the child and follow the instructions in the table.
Do not administer to children under 2 years of age or weighing less than 30 kg.
The recommended dose is:

If you take more Loratadina Teva than you should
If you take more Loratadina Tevathan recommended, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. No serious problems are expected, but you may experience headache, rapid heartbeat, or drowsiness.
If you forget to take Loratadina Teva
- If you forget to take the dose at the scheduled time, take it as soon as possible; then continue to take the medicine as usual.
- Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist, or
nurse.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop taking Loratadina Teva tablets and contact your doctor immediately
if you notice any of the following symptoms
- Allergic reaction: swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing due to narrowing of the airways, shock, collapse, rash, itching.
- fast or irregular heartbeat
- modification of liver function (this may be revealed by a blood test)
Other side effects:
Very common in adults and children over 12 years of age (may affect more than 1
in 10 people):
- drowsiness,
- headache,
- increased appetite
- difficulty sleeping.
Very common in children from 2 to 12 years of age (may affect more than 1 in 10 people):
- headache,
- nervousness
- fatigue.
Very rare (may affect 1 in 10,000 people); very rarely reported during the marketing of Loratadina:
- Dizziness
- Convulsions or seizures
- Nausea (feeling unwell)
- Dry mouth
- Stomach pain
- Hair loss
- Rash
- Fatigue
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from available data)
- Weight gain

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side
effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the national reporting

avversa. By reporting side effects you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
5. How to store Loratadina Teva
Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
Do not put the tablets in another container.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date that is reported on the blister after Exp.
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not use this medicine if you notice any change in the appearance of the tablet.
Do not dispose of any medicine in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist
how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
This medicine does not require particular storage conditions.

What Loratadina Teva contains
- The active ingredient is loratadine.
- The other ingredients are Lactose monohydrate, Corn starch, Pregelatinized starch and Magnesium stearate.
Description of the appearance of Loratadina Teva and contents of the pack
Loratadina Teva 10 mg tablets are white, oval, scored on one side and smooth on the other,
with “L” and “10” imprinted on both sides delimited by the score line.
The medicine is available in packs containing 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 28, 30, 50 and 100
tablets
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
