CARBOSEN is indicated in all procedures of: general medicine (causalgia, neuralgia, etc.), sports medicine (muscle tears, meniscopathies, etc.), orthopedics (fracture reduction, etc.), otorhinolaryngology (tonsillectomy, rhinoplasty, interventions on the middle ear, etc.), ophthalmology (retrobulbar block, etc.), dermatology (removal of warts, cysts, dermoids, etc.), obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery (minor surgery). The form in ampoules is for exclusive use by the dentist and is indicated in all conservative and surgical procedures in dentistry.

Known hypersensitivity to the components or other substances closely related from a chemical point of view.
Do not use in confirmed or suspected pregnancy.

CARBOSEN should be used with extreme caution in patients undergoing therapy with MAOI drugs or tricyclic antidepressants. Before use, ascertain the patient's circulatory conditions. Avoid overdose and allow at least 24 hours between two maximum doses. The solution must be injected with caution in small doses after 10 seconds from a precautionary aspiration. The patient must be kept under control, immediately suspending administration if necessary. In rare cases, serious reactions may occur, even in the absence of individual hypersensitivity, therefore the availability of equipment, drugs and suitable personnel for emergency treatment is necessary. THE PRODUCT MUST BE USED UNDER THE DIRECT CONTROL OF THE DOCTOR.

No interactions with other drugs are known. However, CARBOSEN should be used with great caution in patients undergoing therapy with MAOI drugs or tricyclic antidepressants.

The solution must be injected with caution in small doses after 10 seconds from a precautionary aspiration.
The patient must be kept under control, immediately suspending administration if necessary. In rare cases, serious reactions may occur, even in the absence of individual hypersensitivity, therefore the availability of equipment, drugs and suitable personnel for emergency treatment is necessary.

The maximum dose in adults (not treated with sedatives) is 7 mg/Kg, both in a single administration and in repeated administrations within an interval of less than 90 minutes. Do not exceed the dose of 550 mg. The total dose of 1000 mg must not be exceeded in 24 hours. In pediatrics do not exceed the dose of 5-6 mg/Kg.
Recommended doses:
In dentistry and stomatology:
For infiltration and peripheral nerve block: 30-90 mg.
In surgery:
For epidural and caudal block; paravertebral block; cervical, brachial, intercostal, paracervical, pudendal nerve block and nerve endings: up to 400 mg
In other indications: as prescribed by the doctor.
In obstetrics:
For paracervical block: up to 200 mg in 90 minutes

Administration must be stopped at the first sign of alarm: it is advisable to place the patient in a horizontal position and ensure the patency of the airways by administering oxygen in case of severe dyspnea or performing artificial ventilation. The use of bulbous stimulants should be avoided to avoid worsening the situation by increasing oxygen consumption. Any convulsions can be controlled with the use of Diazepam (10-20 mg intravenously), barbiturates are discouraged as they can accentuate bulbous depression. Circulation can be supported by administering corticosteroids in appropriate doses intravenously; diluted solutions of alpha-beta stimulants with vasoconstrictor action or atropine sulfate can be added. Sodium bicarbonate in an appropriate concentration intravenously can be used as an antacid.

The patient may show toxic and allergic reactions such as phenomena of: central stimulation with excitement, tremors, disorientation, dizziness, mydriasis, increased metabolism and body temperature, and with very high doses, convulsions. If the medulla oblongata is involved, there is involvement of the cardiovascular, respiratory and emetic centers with sweating, arrhythmias, hypertension, tachypnea, bronchodilation, nausea, vomiting. Peripheral-type effects can affect the cardiovascular system with bradycardia and vasodilation.
Locally, it can cause skin eruptions such as urticaria and itching; manifestations of a general nature such as bronchospasm, laryngeal edema, up to cardiocirculatory collapse from anaphylactic shock can also occur.
PATIENTS ARE INVITED TO INFORM THEIR DOCTOR OF ANY ADVERSE EFFECTS OTHER THAN THOSE INDICATED ABOVE.
