1. What is Ruscoroid and what is it used for
Ruscoroid contains two active ingredients ruscogenin, which reduces inflammation, protects the
blood vessels and eliminates congestion; and tetracaine, which reduces pain.
Ruscoroid belongs to the class of medicines called “haemorrhoid treatments” (for haemorrhoids and
anal fissures) for topical use.
Ruscoroid is used for the treatment of disorders associated with haemorrhoids, anal fissures and
inflammation of the rectum (proctitis) such as: itching, pain and a feeling of heaviness.
See your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after a short period of
treatment.
2. What you need to know before using Ruscoroid
Do not use Ruscoroid
- if you are allergic to ruscogenin, tetracaine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Ruscoroid.
In the following cases, use this medicine only after consulting your
doctor:
- if you are under 12 years of age (see “Children”);
- if you are pregnant or breastfeeding (see “Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility”).
Do not use the medicine for prolonged treatments. After a short period of treatment
without appreciable results, consult your doctor.
The use, especially if prolonged, of products applied to the skin (for topical use), can give
rise to skin allergies (local irritation) with a worsening of the disorders or the
appearance of widespread skin redness and itching. In such a case, stop the
treatment and consult your doctor who will provide appropriate therapy.
Children
In children under 12 years of age, Ruscoroid should only be used if absolutely necessary and
under direct medical supervision.
Other medicines and Ruscoroid
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take
any other medicine.
No disturbances (interactions) have been reported regarding the association between Ruscoroid and other
medicines.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy, or if you are
breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using
this medicine.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use Ruscoroid only after consulting your
doctor.
Driving and operating machinery
No adverse effects of Ruscoroid on the ability to drive vehicles and operate
machinery are known.
Ruscoroid 10mg/g + 10 mg/gcontains cetyl alcohol.
It may cause localized skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Ruscoroid 10mg/g + 10 mg/gcontainsmethyl parahydroxybenzoate, ethyl para-
hydroxybenzoate, propyl p-hydroxybenzoate
They may cause allergic reactions (even delayed ones).
Ruscoroid 10mg/g + 10 mg/gcream contains Rosemary 7144 fragrance
This medicine contains a fragrance (Rosemary 7144 fragrance) which in turn contains
allergens that may cause allergic reactions. For the complete composition of the
allergens, see section 6.
3. How to use Ruscoroid
Use this medicine following exactly the instructions in this leaflet or as indicated by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 1 - 2 applications per day.
Apply directly or using the appropriate applicator that screws onto the tube.
Warning: do not exceed the indicated doses without the advice of your doctor.
Use only for short periods of treatment.
Consult your doctor if the disorder occurs repeatedly or if you notice any recent change in its characteristics.
Use in children under 12 years of age
Ruscoroid should be used exclusively according to the doctor's advice.
If you use more Ruscoroid than you should
No cases of overdose are known.
In case of ingestion/intake of an excessive dose of Ruscoroid, immediately inform your doctor or go to the nearest hospital.
If you have any doubts about the use of this medicine, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Rare cases of allergy (sensitization) have been reported, such as local and generalized skin redness
(erythema) associated with itching.
Reporting of side effects
If you experience any side effects, including those not listed in this leaflet,
please inform your doctor or pharmacist. You can also report side effects directly

Reporting side effects can help provide more information about the
safety of this medicine.
5. How to store Ruscoroid
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at a temperature below 25°C.
The shelf life after first opening is 6 months.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack after
“Exp.”. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Do not dispose of any medicine in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist
how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. This will help protect the environment.
6. Contents of the pack and other information
What Ruscoroid contains
- The active ingredients are ruscogenin and tetracaine. 100 g of cream contains 1g of ruscogenin and 1g of tetracaine hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: cetyl alcohol, polysorbate 80, macrogol 400, macrogol 4000, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, ethyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, Rosemary 7144* fragrance, purified water. *Rosemary 7144 fragrance contains the following allergens: amyl cinnamal, amyl cinnamyl alcohol, benzyl benzoate, citral, citronellol, coumarin, eugenol, geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, hydroxycitronellal, d-limonene, linalool (see section 2).

Ruscoroid is presented as a rectal cream.
The pack contains a tube of 40 g.
